UKSA Laser 4000

UKSA Laser 4000, originally uploaded by Patrick Eden.

And now we've ended up at the other end of the country, off the Isle of Wight.
Patrick is a professional photographer and this photo is incredible. I've copied his text about how he captured it -

"Canon Eos 1N.17-35mm lens at 17mm. Fuji 100. EX550 held by an assistant just to my right at head hight. ST-E3 I think. Photoshop. 200th sec f8. The assistant was also holding me by the scruff of the neck to stop me falling out of the high powered RIB we where chasing these guys in. The blur is created by selecting the boat and crew with the pen tool converting to a selection then using thezoom blur filter. "

I've got a lot to learn from this guy!

It's the depth of field that wins here. A lovely classic black an white portrait with a twist. perfectly composed, and the small area of sharpness around the brightest part of the photo is perfect.

Wellies are stripey for a reason

And moving down the country to Derby, I really love tis sense of life and sense of fun! Teenagers playing in puddles - how much fun. Can I join in?

Another view of Scottish life. A lovely set inside the fishmongers - a great way of understanding what people do. The fishmongers might be vanishing, but let's hope not.

Part of another 365 project - this one involves 365 self portraits. I'm looking forward to seeing our overlap with that project as self portraits are difficult to master, and this one is done so well.

Loving this slice of life - life North or the Border style.

Great environmental shots, the hairstyles, clothes and equipment placing the photograph in its time.

Rush Hour Blues; January 12th. 2007 : The Destroyers

A wonderful selection of portraits - reflecting the energy of the band. You can almost hear the music and the enthusiasm.

A guy with an interesting take on the self-portrait.

Let's get him to write something about his post-processing techniques - I have no idea why his skin is green and his lips are pink.

love this one, a disconcerting sense of space and time, it could be anywhere anytime, but it's Northern Endland, right now.

fantastically relaxed and engaged, a great protrait, the connection between photographer and subject is pretty obvious here.

It's brilliant watching brenda experiment with cameras, because she always manages to get it spot on. The third Hasselblad shot this week.

Happy New Year Zavy and James

I've chosen this one to start the blog. These guys live in London, he's from Leeds and she's from Bournemouth.

They are getting married in September. I spent New Year with three couples getting married in the next few months, a great optimistic way to bring in the new year.
