An Urban Picture of Britain. And a rural one too. Fabulously framed shot.

Another shot from Griff, slightly after the previous one. He definitely has a way wth new people.

6:40pm

6:40pm, originally uploaded by griff le riff.

Griff spent a day with a fellow photographer wandering round Leeds asking people to take their photo, taking advantage of the good light and good weather.

This lovely intimate shot of an interracial couple is a great representation of our cities today.

Old Fashioned

Wonderful stuff from Az. A man in his shop of old photos - but the photos aren't for sale. memories that linger on in old photos.

Double Trouble

Adele & I - double exposure

A wonderful example of experimentation, resulting in a ghostly double exposure. Terrific stuff!

The Reckoning

Arthur's Arrival/My Grandpa

Arthur's Arrival, originally uploaded by twill27.

I had to blog these two together, showing each endof four generationsof a family. Such a perfect capture of various stages of life. This is the best newborn baby photo I've ever seen, wonderful capture of the essence of that first moment of life.

The kid's great-grandpa shows us his personlity too, enjoying life all the way through.

Portobello not Portofino

Portobello not Portofino, originally uploaded by jimbodownie.

And in real life, people enjoying Britain as it is. No need for fairs or excuses to enjoy the open air.

spider girl

Wonderfully sharp portrait, well done tracking down Spider Girl.

Nottingham

, originally uploaded by madeinsheffield.

Loving the people in funny outfits this week. He better finish that pipe before the smoking ban starts.

Nottingham

, originally uploaded by madeinsheffield.

More Britons dressed up in strange outfits at country fairs.

Or does she always dress like that?

Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi, originally uploaded by filmwaster.

Vaishaki is a Sikh festival - I need to find out what it celebrates (new year maybe?) and I'll link it here.

Anyway if you ever hear loud drums banging and see guys in colourful orange turbans handing out crisps and other food in various places round Britain, you'll know you've come across a Vaishaki parade.

Dorset Fayre

, originally uploaded by p0cket-paul..

With the start of the summer season, Britain really comes into its own with all kinds of festivals and fayres round the country.

This lady is at a fair in Dorset - or does she wear that outfit every day?

Windsor

IMG_1071, originally uploaded by soeasy.

In our final look at young people around Britain this week, is this guy in Windsor. I'd really like to be able to write more about who and why but I don't know - maybe someone knows what the uniform is?

friendship

friendship, originally uploaded by i didn't mean to go to Stoke.

My favourite thing about Britain is diversity, I don't think I'll be able to find a better example than this.

Posh n Becks

Posh n Becks, originally uploaded by i didn't mean to go to Stoke.

Orange. definitely an alternative to pink or white.

GROUSE

GROUSE, originally uploaded by lucidaphotographic.

Another way to spend the weekend. I like the way the advert ties it to a place - definitely Scotland.

Back to the Future

Back to the Future, originally uploaded by Dan Sumption.

Is it now or is it the 80s? Or is it the future? Could be any of them - who knows?

blonde

blonde, originally uploaded by i didn't mean to go to Stoke.

More classic Britons - but this girl could do with some sunblock. Pink's just not a good look.

The Stare

The Stare, originally uploaded by Eliza Beth.

This week, a look at some young people round the country.

Wonderful timeless stuff here, these beautiful girls look like classic "English Roses" - don't they?

Lymington Ice Cream man

Lymington Ice Cream man, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

Lymington is a pretty chi-chi place, you could spend a few hundred grand on a yaught, a couple of mill on a New Forest home, or a couple of quid on a lovely ice cream cone from this nice man.

New Milton

New Milton, originally uploaded by Monkey Magic.

An idyllic Sunday morning, about 9am. One of those April weekends when it seemed like summer was going to stay forever.

I NEED a beach hut, NOW. Enough of life in London.

Mad dogs and Englishmen ........

And in direct contrast, another fantastic portrait from Tony. Different ways of people enjoying the sunshine.

The Rub of the Green I

The Rub of the Green I, originally uploaded by Tony Browne.

Moving slightly up the M4 back into England, we have this partial body portrait.

It's a perfect contrast to the portraits of Britain in 2007. It is 2007, but it could be any year really.

Cardiff

, originally uploaded by Mr Karanka.

Man in pub with pint - a great black and white traditional shot.

Cardiff vs. Swansea

, originally uploaded by Mr Karanka.

This is a terrific shot. It really epitomises Wales for me - people of all ages enjoying the rugby. Is Wales and Rugby too much of a cliché? I hope not!

Young guns

, originally uploaded by brendadada.

Young Britons out enjoying the beach in the North East. The north Sea turns them into tough people.
