a good job the studio was set up in the street, the last place left you can smoke.
Great London shot.

Jack Passion
He won first place in the Natural Beard category. Pretty impressive for a 23 year old!
He's not actually British - he's American - so come on you Brits, get growing,t he next one's two years away!
For more photos of the winners check out the list - http://www.handlebarclub.co.uk/wbmcwinners.shtml

check out the whole of Luke's fabulous set from the World Beard and Moustache championships. What a great selection of characters.
The judges
These judges are serious. Before you got your badge, you had to be certified that you were in the correct category...there are 3 main categories and 17 sub-categories.
Not sure many of these people are Britons. There was a strong showing from the USA, Germany, and Switzerland - as to be expected.
hello there
last weekend was the World Beard and Mustache Championships in Brighton. I'm so sorry I was too busy to go, i tlooks like such a terrific event. Bring on Alaska 2009!

Sharrow Festival - The Sucker Punch
fantasitc portrait of young boxers. Whilst it looks aggressive, it teaches them discipline and respect, and is good exercise.
streetfashion, barrow-in-furness
we haven't made it to the far North West of England yet - but now we have.
I love the photos of teenagers from all round the country, it's the same hopes, dreams and expectations, nervousness and lack of cash that they all share.

Street Party People
Rastas of all ages, and other people too, enjoying a street party in Bristol.
i'm off to the Notting Hill Carnival this weekend, looking orward to finding similar tales to tell from there.
leeds
So in Cardiff the girls didn't need jackets, but the guys in Leeds feel the chill a bit more.
Very fitting tribute to 30 years after Elvis, definitely the Elvis look we'd have seen today.
Rollover sleepyhead
anoraks and proawn cocktail crisps - it's the tale of summer holiday outings. We've got a particularly bad summer as well. Good job there's plenty to do inBritain when it rains.
Jack's back. Give him a clap.
the Edinburgh festival has started! Great street theatre to be seen, as well as every show imaginable. everyone should go, at least once in their lives. I've been a couple of times, and enjoyed every minute, even if everything I saw wasn't brilliant, quite a lot of stuff was.
Friday night is party night
they must be cold... aren't they?
party time in cardiff - looks like party time in quite a few british towns.

brighton
The british lack of blue skies turns this wonderful portrait from a washout into a really strong portrait. Sharp, strong, and spot on.
FRIENDS OF DOROTHY
not quite a portrait but another fab selection from Brighton Pride. The bottom halves and the top halves probably tell an entirely different story.
HAIR BY MR. WHIPPY
gorgeousness on display at Brighton Pride. Would ove to try wearing my hair like that on a regular day at the office. Wonder what the reaction on the tube would be? None probably.
Beach
Think it's an old postcard?
Think again, it's the Isle of Wight a couple of weeks ago. The effect of usng indorr lighting (tungsten) balanced film outside - there's a blueish tinge.
margate-2
shift down to Kent now. margate is yet another one of those legendary British seaside resorts. Give me Margate over Majorca any day of the week.
Pink Cowboy
A quick trip to the seaside this week, whcih has been in the news after a couple of fires.
I love the british seaside, a little bit of rain and bad weather doesn't deter from the amusement arcades, bingo, crazy golf, fish and chips, and a few sticks of rock.

Cardiff
So instead of kids, the photographers asked old ladies to tkae their photo - great job here. What a fantastic looking lady.
can you come with me please
We've seen Danny before on this blog. A couple of guys went to Cardiff last weekend, and whilst looking for street photos to take they were taken in by the police for questioning.
I take a lot of photos of kids, none of htem my own, but all with permission. I'm really not a fan of people taking random "candids" of children, and cna understand why the police are worried. It might seem heavy-handed, but they were let go pretty quickly, and at least it shows the police were paying attention.

Bugs
This week, we've got quite a few shots from Cardiff. Poor guy in a bunny suit in the town centre. Getting his photo taken might have been the highlight of his day.
